Subject: how's the kennebell opt II for the 4.7? IP: Logged
Message: Okay after doing a lot of research it seems as though the optimizer II from Kennebell would be one of the best mods for my 2002 4.7, according to their email: "The Optimizer II is an engine computer performance upgrade. To get it, this requires you to send your factory computer in for the performance upgrade (typical turnaround time is within 48 hours you-to-us-to-you). The good news: it costs less than the old Optimizer ($349 vs $699). We have the dyno test on the automatic which showed a 10 -15hp improvement. The 5 speed would gain more to the ground because there is less HP loss through the drivetrain. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee - if you're not happy, send your processor back, we'll reprogram it back to stock and give you your money back - it's that simple! More information can be obtained by contacting our sales dept. at (909) 941-6646. They will be happy to assist you. Thank you for your inquiry".
The only problem is their tech line is always busy. Does anyone know if this "flash" voids warranty or Ca. emissions? Does anyone have this, how's it on torque and the low end? Sorry for the long post I just want to make sure my money is well spent.

Message: lan,
I have a Kenne Bell Optimizer II on my '02 4.7 5 speed. I think it's the best money I've spent on my truck. Improved throtle response, power, and top end speed. I had the emissions tested here in Germany just to see if it would pass here and it did. I sent the print to my friend in SA, Tx and he said that was good enough for Tx. I read some where this evening on a R/T 5.9 thread that it doesn't void the waranty. I like it and recommend it. That's me. And did Mr. Cruz answer your e-mail?
Good Luck,
Lynn
PS you can see a pic of the KB Optimizer II sticker on my PCM (with the yellow 91 octain or better sticker on the top of it) so you know I have it at: http://www.a1computech.com/Dak.htm

Message: everything sounds great except having to use 91 octane or better, I already pay enough for gas. Ideally I would like an upgrade not neccisitating premium fuel, but I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too. Now if it increases mpg than I would defenitely go for it, have you noticed any increase in mpg?

Message: lan,
MPG has been steady the same since I recieved the truck back in Feb, about 16 mpg. The up side to that is my highway cruise speed is 105-115 mph. Don't know if the flash improved fuel milage.
The down side is that I pay $4.06 a gallon for 93 octain fuel.
Good Luck,
Lynn

Message: I have the kenne-bell optimizer ii on my 2000 4.7l it is the best mod I have done. kennebell says premium only but I run 87 on the highway and around town when my wallet is light. no pinging or anything. most the time I run 89 octane.
I can't really answer your emmisions question because in florida we don't have testing, and I don't run a cat anyway.
The only problem I have with kenne-bell is if your speedlimiter is 98mph they will not raise it, but I found an easy way around that.
yates-in-de I think victor cruz answers everyones emails. lol I've sent about 5 emails and he's answered all of them.

Message: Hmmm guess I will have to try it maybe I am thinking of a different fuse. If the ABS controller looses power it will not send a speed signal to the computer. Thats all you need. Still not sure why I would need to over double the speed limit though.
I am pretty sure it is the one though. You need to pull the fuse that feeds the controller no the pump.

Message: CW i wired a switch to the abs fuse on the side of the dash. I just flip it when I get close to 98mph and my limiter is gone. I do lose the speedometer as well.
my truck is also an auto if it helps.
