Subject: 4.7 free mods IP: Logged
Message: I used to have an LS1 camaro and they had a million free mods that you could do. Are there any of these on the 4.7? I already made an intake and ported my TB. I'm thinking of removing the front anti sway bar for more weight transfer(worked great on the camaro). Is there anything else?

Message: hate to be an ass, but if you want to go fast you should have kept the camaro. Mods for the 4.7L are few and expensive. The only "free mod" I know of is... look at the right side of the radiator (if your looking at the front of the truck it'll be on the passenger side) there is a little rubber flap / shield, you can remove that for more air flow. If you buy a 180 t-stat, you can remove the clutch fan, that's pretty cheap. The problem is the t-stat is a royal b!tch to get to. autolite spark plugs are supposed to help idle and I've read others say it gives better throttle response.
I have a line-x over the rails bed liner, h-brew pvc intake and a dual exhaust setup. for $200 I'm thinking of going with the 71mm through www.thefastman.com
I think after that and the cheap mods I just mentioned, I'm going to leave it at that, and then work on finding my 69' charger R/T

Message: FREE Mods: Relocate IAT Sensor, Remove Flap and redirect pickup tube from airbox towards the opening, readjust TPS to .7-.75v. Porting the TB won't work properly unless you clean up the entire bore and replace the throttle blade with the correct size (after porting).

Message: Bernd, can you explain these two to me:
Relocate IAT Sensor
readjust TPS to .7-.75v
What are they, what does this do, and how do i do it?

Message: canucker, I should biatch slap you for that one... but in reality I should high-five you!! anyways, I've tried some of the free mods and most of them actually feel like there is some sort of improvement. especially making the cold air style intake and relocating the IAT. The TPS trick gives a little better throttle response. The 3983 autolite plugs are hit or miss. some people like them, some don't. Have fun, drive safe

Message: Being a motor stranger to the Dodge product, could someone definitively tell me where and what color leads are on my 2001 4.7 club IAT sensor? It looks like a plastic intake plenum, and I can see no threaded sensors from simple observation on the front drivers side of said plenum. Thanks Joe

Message: Should be threaded into the manifold right next to the throttle body (on driver's side).

Message: thanks J, I will investigate. I am trying to hook up a piggyback in series with that sensor and their directions were INCREDIBLY vague and generic. I tried to get them to provide decent instruction and they put me off for a WEEK! By chance do you know what color the leads should be? Million thanks-Joe
