Subject: Air Conditioning Doesn't Work After Tune IP: Logged
Message: Hi All,
Been trying to figure this out for a while
now..but no luck. Hoping someone out there can
help!
1993 Dakota, v8 5.2. 215,000 miles and running
well after a recent tune up. Prior to the tune
up, the AC worked great, never needed any
work/upgrades.
After the tune the AC no longer kicks on. Here
is a list of the things I have tested/tried so
far:
- AC clutch and compressor kick on and work
when directly wired to battery.
- Checked all relays and fuses, switched some
to ensure im not crazy.
- Checked every inch of wire I can see in
engine compartment.
- Checked and unplugged/reconnected all
harnesses I could find.
- Heat and blower motor working normally
One odd thing I noticed was that my wiper motor
wasnt working either. Thought I had to buy a
new one and replace, but when I unplugged and
reconnected the motor it suddenly came back to
life.
So I assume this is a electrical glitch
somewhere that was caused by the tune up, but I
cant seem to find it. The shop that did the
work has tried to help, but dont have any ideas
short of replacing the AC system, which I do
not want to do/pay for.
Anyone out there have any ideas?
Thanks very much!
Dan

Message: I have the same kind of issue, so awaiting wise
responses... Air worked great before going to the
shop to have the front driveshaft replaced. When I
got it back, no air.

Message: I have a similar problem, read that the electric
radiator fan is supposed to come on when AC is on,
so checked my fan and it was not on after I turned
on the AC, so tomorrow I am trouble shooting the
electric fan in front of the mechanical fan. I am
hoping that an electrical power plug is not
connected correctly.

Message: My Electric fan went out and I replaced it myself took 2 hours cost $100 bucks. You can check the fuse and/or swap the relays to confirm. The plug sits right in front of the anti-sway bar on the splashguard driver side.

Message: Thanks Opie, Electric fan is working now, but A/C
is still not working. Fan came on when the
engine was "warmed and running" and A/C was
turned "on", but A/C is still not blowing cold.
Guess I will go through Dan's list from above
next:
- AC clutch and compressor kick on and work
when directly wired to battery.
- Checked all relays and fuses, switched some
to ensure im not crazy.
- Checked every inch of wire I can see in
engine compartment.
- Checked and unplugged/reconnected all
harnesses I could find.
- Heat and blower motor working normally - mine
is working fine.
