Subject: purge solenoid 1999 5.2l IP: Logged
Message: hello on my 99 dodge dakota 4x4 5.2l the purge solenoid has become very loud it had started making a intermittent ticking sound that you could hear in the cab driving down the road it had made the usual intermittent chugging sound since forever i had a friend of mine who is a mechanic by trade replace the valve and check the lines for blockages. a few weeks after replacement the new valve started making the chugging sound almost constantly until the truck was full warm that went on for a month or so and now we are back to the ticking. my friend who replaced the valve was diagnosed with cancer soon after replacing that valve and is no longer working on cars at this time. i would like to get this sorted out myself if i can. btw i bought this truck new off the lot in 1999 and it currently has about 90,000 miles on it

Message: 100 ohm resister across the wires to the solenoid
will fix the check engine light. you can either
completely remove all the plumbing and plug the
hose/vacuum line destinations or just leave
everything intact. problem solved if you don't
care about tree frog extinction in some 3rd world
south american country.
