Subject: Output/Input Sensor IP: Logged
Message: Hello,
2001 Dodge Dakota Sport, 4.7L V8. I have my check engine light on, I got it scanned at AutoZone and was told the code was for a bad Speed Output Sensor. I picked up the part and was informed the speed sensor is located on the side of the tranmission on the driver's side. When looking in this location I see 2 identical looking sensors. One further to the front of the tranmission and one further back. Can anyone tell me which of these 2 sensors is the one I am looking for? I have searched this forum, and many other sites to find the info, but I have not had any luck.
Thanks in advance!

Message: It depends upon the exact code you got. It should be the rear speed sensor, on the back of the transmission.
You can check codes yourself. With the truck not running, turn the key to RUN (don't start it.) then turn it back OFF, then RUN again, OFF again, and finally leave it in RUN. Codes will display in the odometer window. It will show P DONE when finished.

Message: You could also ask AZ guy. They can look up the location of
parts on vehicles.

Message: You're better off going to a transmission shop unless your experienced.
There's a problem with the torque converter clutch or overdrive solenoids.
