Message: A cheap way to find out for sure. Buy one head gasket for
each engine and compare the two.

Message: true. what kinda work could I have done to stock 318 heads to make them better. I was things shave port polish and a 3 angle valve grind but im not sure that else I should run with that style set up (cam wise) or if that's even a good idea for head work.

Message: You need to do your mods according to what your intended
use will be. Cam, gears, trans engine mods all need to work
together to get the most bank for the buck. Someone may still
make a stroker kit for the 318 to go to 390. I understand those
strokers make gobs of torque which is want wins races.

Message: The heads from a 360 and 318 will bolt on no
problem. I have swapped them a few times.
Usually 360 heads are cracked due to emissions
making them lean so they get replaced for 318
heads. I am speaking of the 93 and up Magnum
heads. After one swap I did putting 318 heads on
my 360 block I have a higher compression. The
books claim that the combustion chamber is the
same but I really want to see them cc'd. I see no
advantage to putting a possibly cracked heads on
my engine when 318 heads are the same sizes and
would be better with some porting and polishing.

Message: "318 heads" and "360 heads" are the EXACT SAME HEADS once we get into the Magnum engines... Stock heads on a 360 in an "R/T Dakota" are exactly the very same heads. Thee were 2 casting numbers only difference is which plant cast them...
now mopar Perf did sell some "R/T heads" and those are different. but they were never put on as oig equipment.

Message: I have seen no differences in the water or oil passages when I put the 360 and 318 heads side by side and they looked exactly the same. It is possible that the thinner head gasket that I used raised my compression some but it went from 180 psi to 210 psi. The performance is nice but the gas costs extra I can only run premium now. No, the belly pan is not leaking I already replaced it with Hughes kit and I see no oil puddles in the intake.
I have run Edlebrock 2.02 heads on a stock 360 and it ran very well, now the Edlebrocks are on a 408 that is insane for power.

Message: @MRC
and them heads probably ran you a good 1000 bucks didn't they. and I had done some research before on this that the r/t heads have bigger valves than stock 318 that's why I was curious. was thinking about just a simple port polish and shave to the heads and maybe a mild came would give me the power I want. what kinda cam would you recommend.
