changing to eletric will make a small diffinence. But not massive. Cltuch fan are just usless items. a fan is only needed while sitting still, like in traffic. While your running fresh air is constanly hitting the raditor anyways. I gett mine a the local salvage yards off the mercesdez 300 series. 18" dia and plenty of cooling power. add a temp control thromstat form your local parts store for about 35 bucks for a good one and wham bam thank you mamn

It's a 2006 Dakota 4.7 v8 I was hopeing to save on gas with an electric fan the Gfchips.com may not be working so good now that I checked the mile's per gas burned 281miles burned 20.57 gls.
that's 13.66 MPG my computer is saying while I'm driving 17 to 18 with the chip with out 12 to 13.4 mpg.

Hey Tarna95 did you have any problem with the harness to hold the fan in place ? I shouls add on the mpg test useing the Gforce performance chip I had the fuel pump replaced. So I'm in the middle of another gas tank I'll post the results.

I would like to know as well, my clutch fan has been locking up because of the heat, then I get some sort of loud squeek (sounds like bearing noise) at over 3000 rpm. Took off fan and clutch, just running the stock electric and performance is much better, don't notice squeek either. The clutch fan, I'm pretty sure was replaced with Autozone part not too long ago. Today only in low 90s but electric fan seems to run all the time with A.C. on Max. and engine temps are fine. Is it possible to just run with the stock electric and worse case somehow modify it to run more if needed (seems to kick on only when fairly hot - if A.C. not on Max. setting)? Even a manual switch is not out of the question or some adjustable thermostat.

Or if a 2nd electric fan is needed, is there a drop in kit? I'm ready to get rid of the mech. fan.

I've run my '00 QC without the mechanical for years.
Never a problem with overheating. Even in the deep
south in the middle of August.

As a follow up, I tried running only electric fan for a weekend, highs in low to mid 90s. Cooled OK when moving with OD on, but running with OD off (3k rpm around 65 MPH) or lots of stop and go, electric fan alone would not keep up. Now that we've been back in the 100s pretty much everyday, the damn fan clutch locks up every commute home in evening. When it does, it runs like crap, no power, lots of fan noise and grinding squeel around shifts 2750rpm and up. It stays cool enough but I hate the fan clutch/mech. fan. Wish somebody would just make a kit for 2nd fan with fuse box, relays, adj. thermostat. May have to just put one together or get a new fan clutch.
