Message: Hi Ben, I have an '01 Quad 4.7 4x4 214,000 miles with the exact same problem. I have not been able to find a good diagnostic mechanic to locate the problem. I had the right cv shaft replaced by an incompetent mechanic along with the rack/pinion...to no avail. Hope you have better luck.

Message: Check upper control arm bushings. Especially the passenger side. They are usually the first to go because they are closer to the exhaust manifold than the driver side. Ask me how I know this.

Message: Hi Guys, Guess what...I found another worthless mechanic! He put on a passenger side cv shaft. He could not get the new shaft back on over the c-clip, so he beat it on with block of wood and a 5 lb. hammer on the threaded end of the shaft. I got my truck back and a week later the new cv axle joint came apart. I limped into his shop and left it for them to repair again...hated to, but I already paid them good money to fix it the first time. I will let you know what kind of bs they come up with this time. The first mechanic put a new shaft on in Jan. and could not get it over the clip...so, he just left the clip off! Tough to find honest mechanics these days! Thanks, Mike O.
