Subject: Malfunctioning Oil gauge IP: Logged
Message: I have a '99 Dakota R/T. Oil pressure gauge is dropping to 0 when I brake but only once the engine is hot. Have tested this mechanically and found that the pressure remains normal when the gauge drops. Any suggestions?

Message: What did the mechanical gauge read at idle? I'd also say it's probably the sending unit.

Message: You need a new oil pump and screen.
Ive seen this a good number of times.
People try to fix this by engine flushes etc., but in the end the oil pump and screen being replaced solves the problem. $600.00

Message: When the manual Gage shows good I would replace the
sending unit. If the manual Gage not showing good. It could
be the cam bearings
