I have a 2002 dakota slt with a 4.7.Can I convert my transfer case to a manual shift versus electronic?I want to do this due to problems with 4x4 engagement during cold weather.I live in the U.P of michigan and much of the year has cold conditions.

From what I understand, and this is based on another comment somebody made so not sure of the accuracy, I believe it would cause a check engine light to come on. I would like to know the answer too though. I haven't had any problems with mine.
