Message: hey guys,
I have a 2004 dakota 4.7 v8 and my gas mileage sucks. I think im getting like 12-13 mpg. I have slightly bigger than stock tires but nothing excessive (275/75/r16) and no aftermarket parts. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about any chips that will help with feul economy or any other tricks to increase mileage. I love my truck but i cant afford to keep it on the road. If you have any ideas please help. Thanks!

Message: Are you taking the larger tires into account ? You have to figure how much extra distance they cover more than the stock size. How old are the plugs ? Condition of air filter ? If it's not a QC, once you factor the the bigger tires in, I'd expect you to be getting at least 15 mpg if you are trying to get good milage. "Well" is asking some important questions too.

Message: i do a mix of interstae and around town driving. Probably 50/50. I had the truck a little while before this past summer when I went out west for a job, and I was getting like 17 on the interstate. I came back and put a new set of tires on the truck that were the same size as the ones that were on it before, and my milage is down to like 12.5 mpg. Therefore I dont think the tires are the biggest issue although they probably dont help....the plugs in the truck are old however they seem to be firing and the truck is running well. I will try to get a new air filter however the one in it is not in bad shape. oh and my truck is a quad cab. Thanks for your help....any other aftermarket parts that you guys know of that wont break the bank....im in college and cant afford very much

Message: would the fact that the tires are bigger than stock mean the odometer is saying that my truck is not going as many miles because the truck is calibrated for smaller tires and the bigger tires go further per rotation??

Message: I'm suprised that Gerrick Doherty never mentioned anything thing simple such as a need to replace the airfilter (might want to check your gas filter also.
Just more proof you full of hot air.

Message: "bwevt" - yes.
For "LeaseMo" and the others like him - it doesn't take much courage to put someone else's name on the internet. Do you have the stones to use your own name; or the knowledge to actually provide some helpful advice yourself ? A couple of ideas you could give some thought to.
