 Subject: 2002 4.7 4X4 not engaging

I have a 02 4.7 Last winter the 4x4 Stopped working. When switching it to 4hi it would just blink then go back to 2wd. Brought it to Dealership they replaced selector switch and did some other useless crap that didn't fix anything and charged me 400. Told me it might be the TCCM. Just got one from scrapyard, Obviously not positive it is a good one but i plugged it in and it is doing the same thing. Is it worth the 380 for a new TCCM from dealership or is there something else i can check. I am not too savvy with trucks so anything easy i can try myself, i would like to avoid getting bend over by dealership again. I have read other posts about 4X4 troubles thats what lead me to believe it was TCCM seemed to fit the equation. Any help would be great.

Sounds like you and the dealer are using the very dubious "shotgun" method of repair. It's usually better (unless only fairly cheap parts are involved) to properly trouble shoot a problem before making the repair. No one is going to be able to trouble shoot this for you over the internet, they can only make educted guesses as to what it might be - and you make it sound like that's what wasted your $$$ on the first repair. That should be unacceptable, especially from a dealer. You should never pay a dealer for a repair that doesn't fix the problem. Make them fix it right, as they already charged you for the repair.
