Subject: new tire size IP: Logged
Message: My 2002 dakota tires are 255/65/16. WHen its time for a new set of tires, I want to go with a narrower size but maintain about the same height. How much narrower can my tire be and still fit the width of the same stock rim? As an exmaple I might go with a 235/70/16.
I'd appreciate any help or comments

Message: How about providing "the width of the same stock rim"
Knowing how wide the rim is would sure help.

Message: 235/70 is narrower but should be roughly the same height as 255/65. I measured the rim while on the truck, stuck my tape measure thru the slot opening in rim, measured edge to edge. I may be off a bit, but I don't think a whole inch. Do Folks with 8 inch rims have 255 tires??
