Subject: bad u joint or half shaft??

2002 dakota 55,000 miles. 4.7 auto 4x4 that has had the ball joint recall about 10,000 miles ago. Truck doesn't do any pulling, just daily travel.

This noise started about 2 weeks ago. It doesn't do it everytime. Sometimes from a dead stop when you first hit the gas pedal you hear a "click" from under the truck (somewhere from mid to front of the truck). Click meaning a metal on metal sound. Doesn't make this sound any other time. I can't tell exactly where it is coming from. Any ideas? Is this a bad u joint? I've never changed a u joint. How do you diagnose and what is the procedure for changeing these? I don't think it is a ball joint, when the ball joint was bad it seemed to make a popping noise.

without actually getting under your truck for you and looking for loose items for you it's hard to diagnose your clicking noise for you.

My truck makes a metal on metal sound, but only when the engine is running. What could it be.

My driver side door makes a funny whirring noise, but only when I run the window up or down. What's the fix.

Your sister makes a slurping noise, but only when I take my pants off. Why is that.

My QC pops/snaps sometimes when accelerating or breaking. It seems to be the body mounts and/or the nerf bars which attach at the body mounts. It comes and goes depending on the temperature. I've messed with it enough to know that's where the sound comes from but I haven't found a solution yet. Hopefully yours is something inexpensive as well.
