Subject: High Idle IP: Logged
Message: My 03 4.7 5sp manual will not return to idle when coming to a stop with the A/C on. Any other time, no matter what speed I'm moving, if I put it in nuetral or step on the cluth RPM's quickly drop below 100. With the A/C on, the RPM's stay up around 1200 until the truck come to a complete stop. Anyone ever heard of such? I don't guess it's a problem unless it's a symptoim of something else. I'm sure it's costing me a little on gas milage with all th4e stop and go driving I do. Anybody got any ideas?

Message: I'm adding this to this thread because the original post has a problem that is similar to mine so there may be a common cause. I have an 03 4.7 auto that idles at 1000 rpm's only when the A/C is turned on. When the A/C is turned off, the idle will go back down to 500 rpms but only after the A/C has been off a few minutes. My milage is approaching 70k. Any ideas?

Message: I have the same problem with my 05, 4.7 4x4 Manual. The engine will ideal as high as 1800 and then when i come to a halt, it drops to 600. The garage put the scanner on it, but did not come up with any ideas. It's going back tomorrow, so i will post an update.
