Something like that. Anyway, you get the point. Now, what's cooler? Telling everyone about your MSD Blaster ignition on your truck that barely moves, or blowing some doors off and with Mopar stuff? Point being, don't be wooed by flashy marketing when the solution is in another direction. On the MSD stuff, yeah, you can make it work. The key is "make it work." And even if it works, you still don't have a certainty that it'll supply the signal you need to keep the computer happy. Using an off-brand distributor will work....if you get it wired into your system properly. Perhaps the thought was to save money. Not saving much now though. I'm sorry. I hate sounding like someone's dad, buuuuut...... kinda can't avoid it.
It doesn't get any easier than when Mopar makes one of the best ignition systems out there, and even tells you how to install it to keep your truck operating normally without the OEM fuel injection system.

You cannot go wrong with this kit.
The Mancini version includes a coil, or you can use your MSD coil. Your choice on Mopar's or Mancini's kit. The Mancini kit is a little less costly. That's where you can save. These kits are intended to do exactly what you're wanting.
If you are set on using what you have, go to the link I posted and read the instructions for replacing the ignition on logic computer controlled engines. Use that as a guide and you should be able to wire your system in. Some parts may be different, but the main thing is to get the hot side wired in to the MIF with power going into spark controller. The MSD most likely won't use ballast resistors so you can skip that. If you get it right, you should be okay with the rest of the truck functioning properly, but there's no instructions page for the swap, no promises, but it should work. You have the stuff, nothing wrong with trying it. Get it working and you can post your own "How-to". If it gets to be too much, get the Mopar kit. Then you'll have a pre-made harness to help keep things more orderly.
Carburetors: Most have some sort of provision for the Mopar transmission kickdown rod. Buying something that says it doesn't work with Mopar (the truck Avenger) means more handmade work to make it work, or a Lokar aftermarket kit which is a good option to consider. Edelbrock offers a kickdown adapter for their carbs ($15-$20) which allows the original kickdown to be used. Cheap and easy (just like the OEM setup), and it works. Again, Holley and even Rochester carbs were used on Mopars, so there are kickdown adapters for the different carb designs. Some are a little harder to find than others. If that shop sent your truck out without the kickdown, that shows just how ignorant they are to Chrysler transmissions. It will burn up in short order.
I wouldn't give that shop any more money, and they would have to show me what they did, so it could be un-done.
