Message: Well, guess what. Solenoids made no difference whatsoever! Main agent & independant now say its possibly the wiring in the tranny. So, here I am, 4 months and almost $700 further down the road with the same problem.
So, I have fixed it myself!
I sold the bloody thing and bought a new Ford pickup. Tranny works fine now!~

Message: Dumbass I may be, but I now have a new truck with a 5 year powertrain warranty, and it gets twice the gas mileage the Dakota got.
I liked the Dakota, dont get me wrong, but when you have the same recurring problem, time & again, it kinda grinds on you. Anyway, the business I own bought the truck, and I got a decent packet for the Dakota in a private sale, so I am happy.
Each to his own eh?

Message: fingers,
I'm glad you like your new truck.
My tranny shifts fine, whenever I shift it. Overdrive, 5th gear, whenever I want it.
How could a Ford get twice the gas mileage?
My 2001, 4.7, quad Cab, SLT, gets around 18 mixed, 21 hwy. You;re getting 36 and 42? Pretty damn good.

Message: I get around the mid 20's (25ish) on the highway from my 2008 Ranger Sport 4x4 (4litre v6). The Dakota was giving anywhere between 12 and 15.
