Message: Well I went to Speedworld AZ June 23rd and got a new best E.T.
Even though it was nearly 100 degrees!!
I beat my old record of 15.6 @ 86mph with a 15.5 @ 87mph.
I figure its a fair gain considering my 15.6 run was at 75 degrees.
Maybe smoothing out my exhaust manifolds was a
good idea.
02 RC 4.7L
HO cams, HB intake & HB exhaust.
Oh yeah, I'm going turbo people. I will try to copy the STS design and have the turbo at the back. I'm going to run only 6 psi right now cuz I'm still on the stock injectors.
If anyone has some turbo tips let me know.
Where did Duner go?

Message: Hey you should have told me you were going LOL!
Rammer may take his Mustang out there this weekend. His Turbo Ram is almost back together but wont be done in time. I wouldn't mind getting new e.t.'s after putting new larger tires and my old intake manifold back on as well to see how it sits.
Let me know in this thread and maybe we could plan for either Friday night or Sat night after my bowling league gets out. The later the better in this weather!

Bowling is from 6:00 until 8:30 or so. It's in Goodyear tho. But I can take the loop 303 from there to the raceway. But this sat may have plans. Maybe Friday night drags? Chris and I could meet you out there. My Dak still hasn't seen sub 16's yet :( We got Chris' Ram (which was slower than mine) to the low 14's once we got the turbo on there until it blew up. The 360 is almost done in that. He bought my friend's beater 79 Mistang for $500 and we got it running fairly good now. Diff cam, intake with Holley Dbl Pump I had for years. And now a 8.8 LSD rear with 3.73 gears in place of the 3.08's. It was in the low 15's before but hope to be 14's now and then he wants to finish the NO2 on that old sucker and see what he can get LOL!
Let me know about Friday.

Message: Well it looks like I have to meet with our real estate agent tonight to look at a house so I can't make it tonight, but we can try for next weekend if your up for it.
I do have a question for you though, how did you guys route the oil line for the turbo?

Message: No problem. My friends wanted to go bowling tonite anyway and Chris wanted to wait until he had the NO2 done on the Stang to go. So maybe that will work out and I will have one more weekend before going on call again.
The turbo has oilline using a tee where the oil pressure sensor goes and a large line drianing back to the oil pan where a tube is welded into place.
SOme ppl drain to the valve cover but u need the turbo to be up higher for that.

Also, what size turbo did you use for Rammer's truck? I'm having a hard time figuring out the right size.

Message: Rammers is a Borg Warner T04. You can use different sized exhaust housings to tune it. They cost about $400 at AZ Tractor and Turbo.
BTW, we did go to the track last Saturday last minute. My truck held the same et's with the larger tires and stock intake manifold back in place. I only ran it twice and parked it.
Rammer's Beater Mustang we had to fiddle with to get it to stop sputtering out 2/3 of the way down the track. Then we ran the pig on a 125 shot of N2O and it gained over 1 second and actually smoothed out the engine each time he used it!!!!
I'll have a video of that soon.

Message: Thats really good that your truck held the same times.
Good job with the mustang too. 1 second is a pretty nice gain.
Guess what I raced the other day.
The new GT500KR! I whooped his ass too!
Alright now, let me wake up and tell the true story.
I pulled up to the light next to him and when it turned green, I took off faster than him at first(he didn't know we were racing yet), then he dropped down a gear and just flew off into the distance. It was friggin awesome!
Dude, I found the best place to put my turbo too. I'm thinking about doing a 90 from the exhaust towards the passenger side of the truck. Between the frame rails and the passenger door there is an area about 1' wide where a turbo would fit perfectly. Should keep it nice and cool too. Now I have to route the intake piping up to the engine somehow.

Message: if i were you i wouldnt put it down there.i would suggest to go closer to the motor as possible for better tuning.the turbos want to be HOT thats how they work. some people think its from the pressure of the exhaust but it goes off the heat.tell graphitedak to post pics of my manafolds i made, they will work great once i get truck finished.if you desperate i have a manafold i made for the 5.2/5.9 that i made into a turbo manafold,i would sell.i think in my first set up i had less than $1000 in everything.

I've seen some really cheap exhaust manifolds on e-bay.

Here's the video I made when with Rammer on Saturday night.

Yeah sorry Rammer, I thought you knew I had the 4.7, but thanks for the manifold offer.
I've been looking at my manifolds and I should be able to flip it but now I'm thinking somethin will be in the way. Maybe I should try to reproduce the UPD turbo kit on e-bay.
Maybe I'll get the electric turbocharger! ;)

I'll try to remember and go out there this weekend and see if the exhaust manifolds will swap from side to side. They may not since the heads on the left and right are NOT interchangable like on an old fashioned LA motor :p
Anyway since we can't post pictures and links here since the trolls have RUINED the html function of this site, copy and paste this link to the pictures and video of what we did today with Chris' turbo charged 360

Message: Nice setup dude! I wish I had that much room in my engine bay. If I put the turbo up front it would fit where the stock aribox was. Although, I might have to route my exhaust up the back because of my manifolds.
I've got another question, the wastegate goes on the exhust pipe before it reaches the turbine inlet right?

Message: Yeah it goes BEFORE the turbo that way it drops the pressure that otherwise wants to spin the turbo even more and build too much boost!
I think if we removed out clutch fan AND that one piece fan shroud with the coolant resevoir, etc and installed two large electric fans on a narrower shroud that would leave room for the turbo up front on a Dakota.
The only thing I see a problem is finding room for an intercooler on a Dakota.
It took very little modding for Rammer to fit that Dodge Cummins intercooler into his 1500 Ram. He lucked out!

Message: I already have my clutch fan removed, and if we removed the fan shroud, an intercooler should fit easily. As long as its not too big.
I figured thats where the wastegate went.
Is there an oil line I can tap into on the 4.7 that would allow me to put in a T-fitting in so I could route it to the turbo oil inlet?
