Message: I have a 91 dakota v8 magnum, I went to a exhust shop last week and had a flowmaster installed, i dont know if it is a 40-50 series they didnt tell me, just said it will be loud. The truck is very quiet but actually sounds better in Idle than when i step on the gas. In idle it sounds more so a gargle than a nice deep tone. Does flowmaster take a good amount of time to break in and give that deep tone or did i just get ripped off. I also had a brand new magnaflow cat put on few months back.

Message: Flowmasters don't break in as they only have metal baffles welded inside the muffler, there is no insulation material to "break in". The sound isn't going to change, they probably sold you a 50 series or a fake flowmaster. Get under there and measure it-the 40 series are only like 14" long, the 50's are closer to 18", also it should say Flowmaster on it. I'd bring it back and say you aren't satisfied with it and have them put a different one on.

Message: Honestly, if I were you I'd go down and say you want the correct muffler put on that you requested-the 40 series as its the loudest you can get. If they put up an argument and won't back down, then take that muffler out, go to performancepeddler.com and buy a 40 series for $60 or less or you can just get a summit welded muffler (flowmaster copy) for $40 or an IMCO muffler (another flowmaster copy) for about the same $40.
The 80 series mufflers are pretty expensive from what I can remember-close to $100 I think. You could make a little money back on the deal by selling it yourself.

Message: Well i took the truck back to the shop and told them i am unhappy with the sound, so they let me hear a aero exhaust on my truck and i loved it. This aero exhaust is what i was looking for. The tone is very deep and it roars when i press on the gas. He ran all new piping from my cat to the muffler and cut off my tail pipe and put on a drop down. SOUNDS really good. I need to get a recording device and record this. Best dakota i ever herd =P. Take a look into the Aero Exhaust better than flowmaster i say.
