Message: 1992 Dakota with the 5.2 liter.I have the following modifications JBA headers Bassani Exhaust, march pulleys K&N FIPK kit when running with the stock computer If I run with regular gas it pings when it first goes into overdrive. once up to highway speed it quits. It won't do it at all if I run the the more expensive premium. Is there a detotnation sensor on these trucks if so where is it? I have read on this site that autolite plugs also will help with this. Any suggetions would be appreciated Thanks.

Message: Assuming this is something new, My money says you developed a vacumn leak. could be as simple as a bad or disconnected hose to the cover gasket on the bottom side of your intake. 02 Senser is another posibility. Check for codes.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: I don't know about yours, but my owner's manuel says to use premium gas in my 01' Durango R/T. If I use 87 octane it pings. When I use premium it doesn't. Curiously, my 99' Dak R/T can use 87 with no pinging at all. Some of it also may just be cheap gas. I notice that if I buy gas at one particular independant station run by towel heads it pings worse than gas from name brand stations like Chevron, Texaco, or Mobil.

Message: Magnums do not have a detonation sensor. If they did, they'd lose all that service center revenue. Can't have that.
Get your intake belly pan gasket replaced.
