seriously stay away from chain tranny shops, most of them take your money then give you the run around when you come back in 6 months and the "garuntee for life" warrenty turns out to be only the life on the tranny, once it dies, the warrenty dies too. a good 4X4 shop or an independent that works on them might be the better way to go as the independent does not have an Army of Lawyers behind his worthless work like a chain does. The best shop in my area has been around for 50 years or more and specializes in auto trannys, I would not take a sick dog to the local chain or the National chain in my area.
Look in the Phone book under Auto repairs or Truck repairs or simular sections and then do some legwork, ie. call them find out if they are a chain (if so stay away) and how long they have been in business (longer is better, older then your Dad is better yet) Then ask some older folks, say, your best buds ol Man, or even yours, and see what they think or have heard about them, if the guy is a "motor head" all the better.

Message: thanks guys. I really appriciate the tips.. i have called around after school ended today and they gave me the... well sir... you are going to have to bring it in for us to look and it and give it a drive.. we wont really know anything unless you let us drop it which costs 100 bucks. I dont quite have enough money to replace it yet so i cant justify spending an extra 100 bucks seeing as how im busting my ass just paying for insurance... i'll talk to some of the smaller shops in the smaller towns around here and see what i can get out of them... thanks everyone!

Message: what do you mean... get anything but a dodge tranny... i mean.. i know they definitely arent the best in the world but this one has 80000 miles on the rebuilt... 130000 total miles.. id say that 80000 isnt bad at all...besides...a dodge tranny is the only thing that will fit... right?
