Subject: will it fit? IP: Logged
Message: I am going to buy a k&n FIPK for my 3.9 dakota. It is the made for the 5.9, though. I have heard that it fits right into the 3.9, but I have also heard that the A/C and cruise get in the way. Has anyone installed a k&n on a dak with A/C and cruise? If so, how easily does it fit?

Message: depending what year we are talking about here, k&n 5.9 kits fit the 3.9s, there is even a kit just for those with cruise control, and it relocates a component for the air intake to go in place, i'd talk to k&n about it

Message: Here's my two cents.
I heard that you just have to shorten it up a bit when you get it. I don't know I bought a cheap no-name "short ram horn style" works great I box it in w/ sheet metal Myself, all for less then a hundred bucks.

Message: the Kit fits just fine... No need to cut anything. the Number of the kit you need depends on where you crusie control is. If its on the fire wall use the old kit, if its on the fender you need the newer kit.
I did a post about how I got mine to work on a 3.9l.

Message: Not a bad post. But I suspect you don't know what "mystery component" that plugs into the port is???

I have the Stage II w/9" powerstack filter, a lot cheaper and looks a hellava lot better. The steel tubing won't crack either.

Message: I have an airaid intake on mine and am very happy with it. There is no modification needed on the airaid. Takes about ten minutes to install.
