Subject: transmission swap IP: Logged
Message: I have a 95 4x4 Dakota with a 3.9 and a automatic transmission in it. The transmission just let go.. again. This will be the third automatic transmission that has been put into the truck. My question is what would I need to do to swap it over to a 5-speed manual. What year, and model Dakotas can I get one out of to put in my truck. Also is there any other standard transmission that will bolt up to a Dakota?

Message: the manual tranny that backs the v6 daks is the ax15. if i were to swap in a manual for a v6 i would swapthe nv3500 that comes behind the v8's, should take more abuse and last longer then the ax15. u would need the tranny,a clutch, the pedels, linkage, and a manual computer. i think thats everything. thats kinda a big price tag to swap.

Message: You could use a A518 V8 trans RH the 95 does not
have the elec gov pressure controll any 92 to 95
will work but you will also need the crossmember
and transfer case for the V8 trans
Manual you would need the same and the flywheel
and install the pedals for a stick
You would not need to replace the comp if there
is no feed back from the trans for O/D and lock
up it will egnor the signals and not trip any
codes
