Subject: cat question IP: Logged
Message: If I gut my cat out off of my 98 dakota 3.9l with a 50 series flowmaster (delta flow) would my 02 sensors go off.is this the way to gut a cat out is to unbolt one side and stick a pipe in it and nock out the stuff in the cat and rev ur motor up and let it blow out all the stuff in the cat then bolt it back on is this right

Message: Sorry to jump in, but I have a 98 v6 Everything is still stock. Will just just replacing the muffler with a good aftermarket bolt on give my any gains.

Message: Yes replacing the factory muffler (on damn near any car in the world) will give you a little better performance and maybe mpg.
As someone who has gutted a cat on a V6(used a boring bit to drill a tunnel in it) you are wasting your time, and money if you ever need to replace it in the future. You drive a V6, you ain't getting that much out of doing this. If you need power that bad then get a V8, seriously.
