Subject: cold air intake suggestion IP: Logged
Message: Hey everyone
I own a 2000 3.9 dakota and was thinking of installing a cold air intake system into it. I was wondering where the best place to put the filter would be for max air flow. So far I plan on removing the old air filter box which gives me plenty of room for the pipes and then maybe putting the filter either off to the left by the wheel well or off to the side of the radiator Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thankyou

Message: It's great that you insulated your intake hose, Tazzy, but your air filter is still drawing in HOT air from the engine compartment! Other than that, it looks pretty good.

Message: sorry for the dumb ?, but what does the cold air intake do for the truck? Do you get a noticable performance increase? Would it help reduce pining from the crap gas we have to buy?
Tazzy, do you have the filter on there because you removed the original?

Message: Kunfuzd,
If you know where the flap is that everyone removes to the left side of the radiator (facing the front of the truck), you'll notice that that IS the best place for the filter aside from using some type of ram air system as it's mostly drawing in the cold air where that flap was.
