Subject: Detailing GenII Engine Compartment??

Hey! I'm planning on taking my truck to the Mopar Grand Nationals this year and wanted to find a way to get my engine compartment clean. I'm worried about using water with some degreaser because if anyone has seen the engine Compartment of a GenII V6 it's got more wires and hoses running in more ways than I care to acknowledge. And if anyone has found a way to organize that madness that would help too. If it helps I am planning on putting a red hose dress-up kit in the very near future.

yo, easy solution, just leave your truck running and you can use an engine degreaser or simply spray it off and it won't hurt the engine. it really scared the crap out of me when i first did it but my mechanic told me that it would be fine, i have a gen3 and it didn't hurt a thing, engine looks great!!! just leave engine running for a bout 10 or 15 min after you spray it off to kind of dry things and it won't hurt your engine at all!!!

good luck man and keep clean :)

Hey when you find a good hose dress up kit tell me. I have been lookin for one.
I think that motor "gunk" crap works good. I did it to a block last year and just sprayed it on and it foams up and then you just spray it off when your done. I would recomend though that you get a big flat metal pan for under the truck. It gets grease and crap all over. They sell them at most auto stores.
Another thing about the wires. Jegs and a lot of other places sell colored wire covers. You might want to check that out too for looks. Not to much money for them either!

Any way get the stuff under the airbox? It's a textured surface and is a prick to get clean. And does anyone have a safe way to cover the throttle body while the airbox is off, It's hard to work around it but I don't trust a towel to keep any chemicals/water out of the intake.
