Subject: Air bag light IP: Logged
Message: I recently had to change out my starter in my 1995 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with a 3.9 and in order to gain access i had to move the steering shaft and in order to knock out the pin i had to rotae the steering wheel to the right and left alot. After replacing the starter and realigning the steering wheel with the shaft the air bag light now comes on and stays on. Does anyone have any idea what happened.

Message: You probably knocked a connector loose somewhere.
Be CAREFULL - You Don't want airbag to activate.
Maybe best way to look is disconnect battery first, then try to find that connector
clean and make sure fully reconnected..

Message: what happened was "i had to move the steering shaft and in order to knock out the pin i had to rotae the steering wheel to the right and left alot" and when you did that the "clockspring" in the steering column was broken, that caused an open circuit in the airbag circuit and is why the light came on.
