Subject: Why buy a 3.9? IP: Logged
Message: Someone tell me. What makes a V6 3.9 pull more power other than a K&N filter or a 50 series flowmaster? I gotta say, I hate my 3.9 V6 because its gas mileage stinks and theres no power to explain the mileage. I dont race a V6, thats insane, but I want to pull a 2000 lb. trailer cross country, any ideas? Also, to all potential V6 dakota buyers, DO NOT BUY IT! It's not worth the money, GET A V8!!

Message: Here we go again. Since an engine is bascially a big air pump the faster and more efficiently you can get air in and exhaust out, the better. So maybe a K&N FIPK would help with your current filter. JBA headers. Leave your intermediary exhaust pipe stock your muffler certainly helps. When the factory cat goes bad get a Carsound to replace it instead of factory. A larger bore throttle body will certainly help. I have the F&B 48mm. I would avoid the Jet chips, I think they are junk from personal experience. Bigger gearing might help to. I went to 3.90s with no mileage loss. There are many other things you could do to.

Message: Check out your sensors as well with a scanner and a voltmeter make sure especially that the O2 sensors are flip flopping like they should. TPS and MAP are other goods ones to check out. I would look at your plugs and see how they are burning.

Message: If you can afford it, get a supercharger. That will solve a whole bunch of power problems.

Message: I hauled a 2,300 lb. uhaul trailor and bed full of stuff from idaho to new york. Yes I went OVER the rocky mountains, and yes that was a pain inthe ass. I was in first gear all the way up. On flat ground with not much head wind I could go 80 no problem. Though uhaul said not to go over 45. I think if I had had shell on it would have worked much better becuase I could really feel the wind resistance with the trailor. Oh, and this was with a stock 2002 V6. It did have the towing package with trans cooler so I'd highly recommend that.

Message: Hell yeah add a supercharger on it, that would be cool. Good gas mileage and power when needed. Later
