Message: Hi guys,
I have a 2002 CC SXT 3.9 4x2. 62000 miles.
I have a few weird problems, and I am pretty sure they are all related, but I have NO idea where to start.
If I am sitting at a red light, and tap the gas quickly and then the brakes the truck will stall out. If i am reversing into a parking spot, the truck will stall if i tap the gas (not to go too fast)
If i am driving at any speed down the street, and i put the truck into neutral and rev the motor to say.. 4k and then let off, it will die out.
any suggestions are appreciated. i am considering dumping it, because its getting pretty annoying.
thanks

Message: I'll take a guess and say your IAC is bad. It is a small motor that controls the idle and how much air gets in to the engine via the throttle body. Just one guess though. Have you ever had the dealer try to diagnose the problem?

How much does the IAC cost? Easy to replace?

Message: IACs are fairly cheap... can't remember a price. I was thinking $70 but I recall someone posting after I said that and it was like $30 or $40 I think. I'd try to clean yours first though and see if that helps. Usually it's just because they get a lot of carbon built up on em.
How to clean the IAC
I recommend removing the throttle body to clean the IAC...for one, it's difficult to get to if you leave it on and you can also get the IAC port thorougly cleaned out without spraying a bunch of carb cleaner into your tb. If you do that, don't forget to use a new tb gasket and per Larry's instructions, put a lil on the o-ring before you put the IAC motor back in.
A bad 02 sensor will give you cruddy mileage...300 miles sounds about average I think. A lot of us get that mileage, but there are quite a few here who get much better and I hope to learn what the heck they're doing to their trucks so I can start saving $20-40 a month. lol

Message: Make sure when removing the idle sensor in the back that you don't twist the plunger just wipe it clean. I would do a search on here I remember reading something about "preloading" the unit by rotating it slightly when reinstalling it then turning it slightly until the screw holes realign. Search and read some threads to find out for sure. Better to try cleaning it first then buying a new one. If you have to buy it try partsamerica.com they'll save you a bit over the dealer.

Message: You're thinking about the tps sensor when you talk about preloading... and speaking of that, when I installed my tps sensor on the new ported throttle body, when you put it on, you have to cock it 20 degrees in order for the holes to line up to screw it back in.
