Message:

I understand how to reset the PCM (disconnect neg, turn ignition to start) BUT, my question is will the PCM get reset again if I, for example, change the battery? Or does turning the ignition to start with the negative disconnected make all the difference?

Thanks!

Any break in the battery voltage to the computer for approximately 20 minutes will reset the computer. So if your fast, a battery change may not reset the computer. Good luck.

I don't know what voltage the pcm requires to hold its settings but I rigged up a gadget to hold the clock and radio settings when changing/disconnecting the battery.
Get a 9 volt battery connector at Radio Shack, wire it to a cigarette lighter plug, connect a 9 volt battery and plug it in the lighter/power center before disconnecting the battery. I don't know how long it will hold up but I've had the battery out for at least 20 min. and it kept the clock/radio settings.
If your lighter does not operate with the ignition off you'll have to turn the key to "acces". or "on" to complete the circuit.
