Subject: My Dyno Was A Fluke! IP: Logged
Message: got the TB in.....had a couple of tries before i got the truck started (ask bernd he knows why!oops). i could feel the difference in the TB..awesome...give whiplash off of idle starts...
got to the dyno and there was a WS6 there that dynoed just under 600Hp at the wheels (d@mn)...they loaded my truck up and began with the first run (no NO2)....my truck hit 139 at the wheels.....i was like "what? i don't think so!"...they ran it again and hit 152...i was getting mad! Third run they hit the juice....198 hp....."WHAT?" a nitrous express 75 shot is suppose to add 75 to the rear wheels. charged me my $60 (money well spent, yeah right) and left....gave Bernd a ring-a-ding-ding....
apparently they did not set the dyno for my v-sixer.....crap heads!
Bernd said my truck should be in the area of 200 HP at the wheels with out the juice....
that's what i thought because 198hp doesn't get a 3700 lb truck down the 1/8th in 9.8 seconds.
soooooo, feb 22 i am going down to Austin and play with bernd....hopefully run some quarters and do a dyno.
my sad story,

Message: With the proper mods...the 200HP (crank) isn't hard to obtain. With TB, Intake, Headers, 1.7:1 Rollers, t'stat, ignition, IAT mod, underdrive pulley (crank), and an electric fan conversion it's not hard to hit 200HP (crank) at all.
The magic number for the V6 is 200HP though...anything higher than that and you'll need cam, heads, nitrous, supercharger, or a combination of any of those to get above 200HP (crank).
Greg, I went through my old dyno sheets and I was mistaken...the 190RWHP was with a 50HP shot of nitrous and the 1.6:1 rollers (and the other basic stuff I talked with you about).
However, I still think they messed up on the dyno runs as the V6 needs to be set on a 720 crank rotation on the dyno settings. You'll also need the dual pickups for an accurate reading. With the 75HP shot, you should have been right about 220RWHP. When you come down during the weekend of the 22nd, i'll see if we can't dyno the truck again...i'll run the dyno as well.
DodgeMick: Nah...no cliffs needed. I hit 270RWHP several weeks ago. ;)

Message: how did they not set the dyno? dont you just put your car or truck on it and make pulls? what differance does it make if you have a 800hp V8, or a 115hp 4-banger? the dyno dosent know the differance between engines?...does it?

Message: kota,
the dyno reads all sorts of things.....they hook up wires all over the place....don't just strap it on and run.....they never changed the dyno settings from the WS6 before me and i will post the dyno results becuase you can tell they don't look right....there is no curve and it is as bumpy as h*ll!
BTW, the 152 with out juice would convert to 186 at the fly and that would be 11 more than stock... that was my first clue something was wrong...
Tom,
i went to speedworks in lewisville....my dad works with the owner's (Dan) father (Larry).
Dakmatt,
i am using Bernd's custom TB he use to use before he had his s/c.....once again..thanks bernd!

Message: i know the dyno takes readings from your truck, buy what settings do they have to change on the dyno between car changes?
the only thing i can think of is making the tencion on the rollers lighter for your truck.

Message: Kota: There's the load calibration, crank rotation offset, number of cylinders, type of engine (rotary, two-stroke, four-stroke), and then having the rear wheels set properly on the dyno drums (big wheels).
"there is no curve and it is as bumpy as h*ll!" Definitely sounds like it wasn't set properly for your engine. Email me the dyno file...(DYNOxxxx.001 or whatever they named it). I can read them.
