I installed my intake about 1 week ago my gas mileage went down. However it sounds terrific. So if anyone is buying a cold air intake to improve MPG on the 3.9 V6 think twice.

Yeah, but how often are you giving it a lot of gas to make it rev higher and sound cooler?

i always notice a decline in MPG after a new mod. but once i get over the "more hp buzz", and stop doing wot all the time, then i see the mpg improvement.

No offense, BUT.....

MPG - who cares?? If you wanted good mpg, buy a geo. If you want great performance, buy a Ferrari. If you want a good mid-size truck that looks good and runs great, buy a dakota. No matter what the MPG is, you're still gonna buy gas for it. Keep your foot out of any vehicle and your mpg will go up. Tromp on it every takeoff and high rev thru the gears, and mpg goes down!
Of course, there's the SMILE FACTOR and EGO FACTOR that play heavily in the mpg controversy.

So, do like I do. ROMP the HELL outta it and screw the MPG. A smile is better than an extra mpg anyday!!!

can u say......REDLINE??? LMAO

I did my intake a week ago as well. The first half tank or so I was romping on it. Letting these engines breathe really makes a difference! The last half tank or so I drove pretty much normal. I got about the same miles for the tank full, so I'm guessing mileage will be higher once I drive it more real world. But...I Love the new sound and kick it gives. I'll be doing the IAT relocate this weekend, and maybe throttle body soon!

that would be what they are referring to.

If you are looking to improve your MPG and put a cold air intake on and didnt see any improvements, then you need to re-evaluate your driving characteristics.
