Whats up people?
Now that my dak (3.9, 2wd) is getting a bit elderly and not looking as good as it once did. Im thinking of swapping the comp ta drags for a mild lift and some mud tires.
Anyone done it, if so how is it?
engine mods= air aid intake, 3/4 tb spacer, reprogrammed jet pcm, msd wires, bosh +4 plugs, catco cat, v force silencer (2.5 inch)

havent done it, thinking about it how ever. The only draw backs is that bigger tires and a lift will put more strain on the engine.

I believe(atleast on my dak) stock tires are p215.
I run p255's now but i duno if id go hire then 31's

but then again, i could be way out of context

all you have to do to fix that is to put in some lower gear ratios, like 3.92s or something. not too expensive if you can do it yourself. Steve

I beleive i have the 3.92 rear, The truck is tourqy as hell. Thats another reason why im thinking of the swap.

Do the 31's fill up the back wells?
In goin' skinnies up front i thnk. Prolly will look dumb as hell but better dirt handling.

I have BF Goodrich AllTerrain 31 X 10.5 X15 on my 99 V6 DAK 2wd and that is the biggest you can fit without a lift. They look good. I have a picture on here a few threads down if you wanna look at it....

ok from experance w/ mudding w/ my little 2wd 87 dakota dont put a smaller skinner tire up front ever!!! about 4 months ago this truck was handed down to me and i put 2 30x11.5r15 super swamper TSL/SX on just the back it looked dumb as hell the stock tires for mine were 25.5inches tall and now i got tires that are almost 4.5inches taller screwed w/ my gears to where when im doin 50 on the speedo im really doin about 58-59 i got a 3.9Lv6 w/ the 2bbl carb and A904 trans i can start at a stop sign turning right w/ the right rear on some grass gravel or sometimes mud and smoke tires into 2nd gear watching the speedo shoot up to 55mph and drop back down to 25. my tires suck in the rain and i got in a wreck w/ just the swampers on the rear b/c the front lil tires locked up in the rain and i slid into a explorer. im hoping to turn my truck into a prerunner and switchin to some all-terrain tires b/c muds dont last long and the dont sqeal just a really low bark. so its your truck but dont put just big ole meats out back and lil skinnys up front dont work to well you need more floation and a wider foot print to give better grip if your sideways on a gravel road
