Subject: NOS Question
IP: Logged

Message:
I was lookin at an intake I am workin on and it dosent look like there is any good neutral ground for an NOS injector to go.
Looks like to get equal distribution of NOS/fuel mix two injectors will be needed, one on both upper sides of the intake just under the TB.
If so has anyone ever done this and how much extra does it cost? Will 2 more soleniods be needed?

I will be joining soon and my name will change.

are you talking about running the nitrous directly into your intake manifold?.....all you need is to run the one nozzle into you intake tube about six inches from the TB.....that should do it...

I only know of one plate system that is a direct bolt-on for our trucks...but can't remember the name off hand.

Intense is correct...the standard EFI nozzle works just fine.

bernd, what do you think about fabbing some kind of intake manifold out of aluminum and having a custom fogger type system that shoots the nos and fuel directly into the port? i have been thinking about it but don't have the tools to weld aluminum very well.

Thought about it...but nah. Did you see the new NOS FI injector add-ons for the nitrous systems yet? (Direct port...right on the injector! Needs a fuel rail spacer though and may require a TB spacer as well so that the linkage clears the fuel rails.)

there is a article i think in one of my mags that shows a custom built intake that can switch the tops for different carb setups...looks real cool....and the runners go across the intake directly to the chamber.....look down the runner and all you see is the intake port on the head....pretty sweet

Ok, I understand that the injector will work in the ram air tube but I dont really want to do it that way so help me out guys.
Can I use duel injectors on either side of the intake and what kinda parts will I need to get this done? I mean its nothin but drillin and tappin holes for the injectors so why not? Got to be better distribution that way.

scott,
if you want to do that you would need a distribution y's for each line (fuel and nitrous)and two nozzles....it probably won't do you that much good....still squirting the same amount of nitrous.

Thanks Intense.
Intense, where do you make the change for the HP of the shot, with "NOS tm" its a "pill"? and its no big deal if I'm just splitting the shot in half I think closer and equal distribution will help anyway. I am writing Speedtweaks today to see what they say. I'm thinkin if a Fogger system is so good because it gets the NOS/fuel right in over the port like EFI I think the closer and more equal shot I get to the ports the better.
Not to sure bout all this but I got money and time to burn and I want the best NOS system short of of a high dollar fogger.
You guys help is always apreciated, keep it commin!!

LOL, Ll Blackdak. I didnt have that problem, I made my own.

oh, and fogger systems are so good because they use 400Hp shots....dividing a 75 shot (most you can use running stock hardware) won't do you much good...the fogger divides it because it would be hell shooting that much nos through one nozzle...it would probably not get all sucked up by the engine.

Now its all comming together in my little brain.
Say you have a 50HP pill in it, if I put two injectors in and both had 50's I would end up with 100? does this sound right to any of you?
I think I can use the two solenoid setup that comes with it just split it like you said.

I was readin another post, gen III's are really 500lbs heavier than II's? damn, I just took almost 200lbs out of my truck the other day.
Felt the difference too!

Soon to join, name will change.

if you used two used two different nozzles, each with a 50 jet in it, it might be a 100 shot...but i am telling you....your trying to make this very difficult.....i thought about a port kinda of injection thing but not really worth the effort on our enines....now a blown alcohol 408 with 13.5:1 compression and a powerband up to 9,000 rpmss....that would be a different story.
do you have one by the way.....because i sure would like one!

what year is your truck...dont forget.....the juice can only be activated during wide open throttle....don't have to worry too much about those throttle blades...
have you ever seen nitrous sprayed....if you have, then you also wouldn't worry about those throttle blades!

340....wow....can i have it?! j/k..

blackdak,
it's not hard....just hard to find locations to put the solenoids and stuff like that....it was a one day job for me.....but that was only because i didn't use enough teflon based sealant on the treads and they leaked when i tested the system...
am i scaring you yet?;) BOOM!...look at the pretty nitrous fire and how it shot that hood 10 feet in the air! wow!

7.16's would be tough, you'd be outa RPM by half track I think, lol.
What are you going to do for Limited slip? I finally tracked down an 8 3/4 rear from a 69 Satellite, got it comming next week. 4.10's will be in my Dak in 2 weeks or less!!

You dont want a Locker, ther WAY to hard on axles.

I seen too many C clip type rears come apart to want to spend any money on one plus I have 3 third members already setup for the 8 3/4 rear: 2.76 (for those trips to Indy) 3.55 (now for the Chally) 4.10's for the Dak!!
