Message: Are the autolite platinums ap 5224 a copper plug? Would they be a better plug then the 5224 copper plug (the cheapest ones)?

Message: The AP 5224 and plain 5224 are both copper core plugs. The difference is the platinum in the end of the AP plugs. Both are the Autolite equivalent of the Champion truck plug. The electrode goes in a little further in the combustion chamber on the 5224 and can help eliminate ping. They have a little hotter spark. If you use the AP5224 gap them about .005 over the stock gap to take advantage of the better spark. Platinums have less resistance and need less energy to create the better spark. My Dakota ran real good on AP5224's but I use 3923's now. For the money the Autolite plugs run real good in my V6. Others here will disagree, but Autolite works best for me and my truck.
