Subject: 42RE Tranny Slip IP: Logged
Message: I had the tranny fluid changed on my 02 Dakota Club Cab at an oil change place. It started slipping immediately. I went to my local Dodge dealer and they dropped the pan and changed filter. This only exchanges about 6 quarts of fluid. Do I wait another 30,000 miles and have it flushed at the dealer or do it now?

Message: Do it now. If the tranny butchering place used Dexron, your tranny will be toast in about 3000 miles. It will require complete tear down and all the clutches will have to be replaced. That will cost about $1500.00. Take it to the dealer and have them do a complete fluch and fill.
