Subject: fan killed my battery

Message:
Has any one had this problem? I have a 2000 V6, 50,000 miles. I got home the other night and when I turned the truck off the fan under the hood was still running. I started her back up and turned her off. The thing wouldn't turn off. I went inside and then checked it about ten minutes later. Still running. After that I went inside, got distracted and forgot about it. The next morning my battery was dead. Tried to jump it, no use, the thing was dust. I went and bought a new battery and now it seems to be working fine. I have no clue what's wrong. Can anyone help me on this one? By the way, everything is stock except for an intake and exaust.
Thanks for any help.

when you changed the battery you reset the pc control module -- that allowed the fan control switch to shutoff-- ther is probably a code in the pc that says that the fan switch is bad-- it probably will do it again-- they seem to comeon alot --my old 98 with 3.9 never over heated and it had no elctric fan-- my ne 2004 with the aux fan seems to have it run every time I run at slow speeds -- probably the poor reverse flow water pump and radiator design of the 4.7

Thanks for the info. Is this something I can fix myself? I have no idea where the fan switch is.

Pop your relay cover, remove the one for the fan, and swap it for the one for your driving lights... the fan relay can melt, and melt your relay box-- mine did.
