Subject: Tranny Swap IP: Logged
Message: I have an '87 2wd LB with a 3 speed auto that is fried. I have been offered a 4 speed manual from a '76 D250 with a 318. Will this tranny bolt up to a 3.9L? If yes, is it time consuming and expensive? I have already taken into account the different parts required for an auto to manual swap. Thanks.

Message: What you need to do is check the mesurements on
the back of the crank and see if its deep enough
and big enough to accept the imput shaft from
the tran's
Otherwise yes it will all bolt up, you will have
to swap out your pedals from a Dak with a stick
and install the clutch linkage
We have a local 94 Dak with a 383 Mag and a 4
speed, He has never run the truck for time but
its nuts

Message: I doubt it will work, most auto tranny cranks dont have a pilot bushing hole in the end of the crank. You will have to take it all apart and verify that before assuming anything.

Message: Opps.....forgot to say that you can have the crank drilled out to accept the bearing/bushing if you want.
