Message: Could one of you clear something up for me? My dad use to have a 1982 Dodge Ram Van with the "slant 6" engine. e were talking about it and he thinks it was an 318ci-6 cyl. engine. I told him it was a like a 225 ci-6 cyl, thats leaned to one side hince the "slant". ??? What gives guys? Thanks

Message: The slant 225 is a straight 6
The 3.9 is a V6 and was made by chopping off 2
cyls on the 318 V8

Message: the slant is because the motor sat at about a 50 degree angle... just like you thought

Message: the slant gave it a lower profile than straight up so they could have greater styling possabilities with lower hood lines. Also hopped up nicly had a 71 cuda with 225 headers a 4barrel and cam would walk a 350 camero no prob.

Message: Hey what about the old corn binder engine made
by international a slant 4 cyl
I never did understand why they slanted there 6
cyl, Clifford makes a lot of hi perf parts for
straight 6's you would be suprized seeing a 600
HP straight 6 with 3 2bls like the old hudson
hornets had or 2 4bl's
They do it every day with the straight 6's mostly
for off road racing
