Message: 2 questions, re: the old girl--she has 220k and still going strong.
1. a/c compressor--anyone seen one turn backwards? Mine makes this brrrrr noise inside the cab from center vents, stops when ac cycles and if you put on just fan--so I have ruled out crud in the blower box.
last year replaced a/c clutch--to the tune of about $ 400 in parts. I REALLY don't want to mess up this unit. The old one completely disintegrated--but due to my enjoyment of music never heard anything until pulley just about fell off---no joke.
In looking at clutch tonight, I noticed that when it cycled off, the clutch plate didn't really turn backward, but moved about 1/16th to 1/8 of a turn BACKWARD, on some ocassions, then engaged and spun for a while then disengaged---seemed normal. could this be maladjusted---the shims? It blows cold cold air. compressor going---caused the first ac clutch to go?
Any ideas??? I can't afford to keep putting clutches in it...anyone else hear this brrrrrr noise?
2. auto trans or tps, etc?
at low speed, 10 mph holding steady truck kind of surges--wouldn't really call a buck, but surges, uh, uh, uh. If I give it more gas it evens out and runs very smooth. If the truck is sitting idle (warming up) without me inside I notice the idle fluctuates also, no tach but we are talking idle at about 800, rising up to about 1500 or more and back down---could these be the same problem? Any cheap fix---I saw a TSB that said PCM or something that sounded costly...any tricks??
all help appreciated
