Message: LA engines, as far as I know the parts will change from the 273 to the 360, is this true?
What is the weight of the 273, 3.9, and 318?
Yes I am thinking of throwing a 273 in place of my 3.9 in my 87.
How do you guys thing I should set up the fuel system?
I am guessing that the 727 will mount up to the 273 and I guess the motor will drop right down in the stock mounts.

Message: Rooster,
Nice choice for the motor, just check the
crankshaft on the 273 where the nose of the torque
converter rides.
The little hub on the front of the converter in
the center.
The 273's have been known to have a smaller Dia
hub and the crank was not big enough where this
hub rides and a lot of converters will not fit
they are to big.
If your flexplate and this hub is the same all the
dimensions on the 273 are the same as a 318
and check the crank sensor location of where
the sensor rides be sure its ok.
I had a 273 in a 68 Plymouth Fury III it was a
nice motor and had a better top end than the
318 but less torque down low.

What year truck are you planing on putting this
273 in.
If its an older truck I suggest a 600 vac
secondary holley with a Weiend Action Plus
intake they work real nice on the 273 318's
Pre Mag engines
Its the setup we use on the older 4X4's and it
gives you some real nice low and mid range
without sacrificing any top end, a very nice
manifold.
Another manifold that runs very well on the 273
318 engines is the Offenhouser dual port 360
with a 600 holley excellent throttle respose
with this set up just a little better than
the Weiend Action Plus
Both excellent choices.

Message: Pretty much I am gonna put it in a dakota... I think I am gonna use an 87.
At this point in time I am just brain storming so any ideas will be helpful.
