Message: Rob I would say it depends on your needs , if you plan on carrying/ towing a large load or racing than go with the V8. I have the 3.9 ,but from what i have read here and other places the gas milage seems to be about the same for either engine. Again from what i have read the V6 responds better to bolt on mods (as far as mpg increases).
I don't race my Dak and don't have a need to tow heavy loads so i choose the SXT package with the 3.9 and am very happy with it, I added a few bolt ons and it has given me a noticible increase in preformance and mpg.
When I looked at both a V8 and V6 model I couldn't see paying the the extra money for the V8 model when the V6 SXT package suited my needs. hope this helps

Message: I have a CC Auto 3.9L 4x4 SXT with a few mods and I really like it. Even before the mods, it was a fun truck.
Yeah, go with a V8 if there is not a large price difference, if there is, you'll still like your V6.

Message: I would get the 4.7 over the 3.9. My 3.9 is alright but it's not great. With the 4.7 you get an engine that makes more power but doesn't use any mor fuel and the power potential is greater.
Really, it's a no brainer.
