The chrysler 340 is the 318 with larger pistons. Right? The 3.9L is the 318 with two less pistons. Right? So if you can bore out a 318 to fit 340 pistons, then you can bore out our 3.9L to fit 340 pistons. That would make our Daks 4.26L. Plus, there are more piston manufacturers that make pistons for the 340. I think this is a great idea.

P.S...............BORE......STROKE
........3.9L.......3.91".......3.312"
.........318.......3.91".......3.312"
.........340.......4.07".......3.312"

Stock 340 has a 4.04 bore, taking aq 318 (3.91) to stock 340 bore would be boring it (bare with me I suk at math) .13.... If that is correct I dont know of any production block that has ever been able to be over bored that much.
To top it all off I understand (from reliable sources) that a Mag block shouldnt be taken more than .002 over.

Now you can play with the stroke all you want, someone was workin on a stroker crank kit for the 3.9, it was a 4" stroke to give it 4.7 but I never heard anything more about it.

Good try though.

i was gonna say... .002?!?!?!

most rebuilders will bore up to .06 before its a paper weight. The old 225 slant could bore up to .1 easily.

I have my 3.9 stroked and it worked out very well
but was also very expensive.

You need differant crank pistons and rods and
also had to grind some material out to clear the
crank, and get the assembaly ballanced

but its done and working great.

More low end torque and top end power.

More power everywhere
