Message: I have a 93 dodge dakota 4x4 with the 3.9 magnum. I get terrible gas mileage. I have change the fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter trying to get it up. I have gotten as low as 8.5mpg. But this is with quite a bit of warm up time due to the cold weather.Does anyone have any ideas to get it up.

Message: Look at the other thread,
a new O2 sensor before the cat, and after the cat will pick it up a lot! also, the best way to warm up your truck is to drive it. I start mine up about 5 to 7 minutes before I leave so the belts to squeal on me. Idiling for a long time the truck will burn oil and it just isn't good for the truck for a long time.
where are you for the cold weather??
I'm in Maine, so it is cold here!

Message: I live in michigan. Lately it's been like 10-15 below zero wind chills. I usually start mine for 10-15 minutes. I don't burn any oil.

Message: ' 93 Dakota Sport 115k miles Haven't been on the road yet But I get 15 - 16.5 around town But I baby it and go a little under the spped limit.I have been trying to get it to 17 But after reading these postings I will stop whining.
I do use some Seafoam now and then and things like plugs, gas filter, PVC rotary button, tire inflation and not gunning it are cummulatively important.
That is a 3.9 L engine boys. If you tell it to jump, it jumps, but will require extra fuel to do so.
