Howdy,

We (my fiance and I) purchased a 2003, dodge dakota sxt club cab.

We just got the basic model, (AC, 3.9L V6, Hauling package, but no fog lamps, power windows or locks).

Now for the real question, what do people recommend for the replacement fog lamps after I cutout the placeholders in the bumper?

I was looking at the Hella high powered driving lights. (http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts.cfm/partfamilyid/45/CategoryID/26/SubCategoryID/166)

Anyone have any good recommendations? Am I going to need a special wiring harness or kit?

Thanks,

Ron Hines

Congrats on the purchase! The Hella lights you are considering look hella good. The stock fog lights on my 2000 dak are 4-4.5" (don't quote me on this) diameter and the Hella's you are considering are 3.5"...if you haven't cut out the holes yet, you may be able to retrofit the Hella's. The problem you may encounter with this is trying to find a solid place to mount the lights. Ideally, you'll need to mount the lights on a metal body part. Check out the aftermarket fog lights Pilot makes specifically for our Daks. I have a pair and they are nice...55W H3 halogen. They bolt nicely onto the metal bumper thingy and come with a wiring harness, switch, and relay...the factory wiring is not there if you did not purchase the factory fog lights.

I have the pilot lights in mine and they work great! Here is the link:

They bolt right up. I modified mine a little and drilled through the frame and bolted the lights on through the frame rather than their method, which seemed kinda flimsy to me.

Ah sweet. The replacements from Pilot look damn nice. That's exactly what I want. I was thinking of grabbing some others that were exactly 4" in diameter but I think I'll get those.

So far I have seen about 10 suggestions from others all over these forums for the pilot brand.

Thanks guys!

I got my new lights today, they just arrived. Total cost with shipping and handling was 80 bucks, not too shabby and they come with great installation instructions.

Should be very simple. :) If I have any questions, I'll be sure to post them here.

I put them in yesterday, fantastic lights. Pulled off the lower front valance ( four bolts, so damn easy ). Drilled the holes, mounted the lights and was done. Very simple installation.

I think I am going to replace the plastic valance with something different, possibly one with a chrome finish. Not sure yet, still looking for ideas though.

Thanks for all the tips guys.
