Are performance rocker arms a good thing? I read because they are easier to move with less friction that you can see a good HP gain. Any feedback on this subject such as what one's work well with the 3.9 and how much they run $$$ wise would be appreciated.

The 1.7s from Crower work well and net about 10-15 hp at the rear wheels. No loss of low end, and they come on at about 3000 rpm-- peak at or near the peak hp rpm range of your stock cam. You'll need to mod you covers to clear the rockers-- or buy pre modded ones (I can do that)--
The 1.7s run $350 shipped.

for 1.7 rr... do you NEED the kit w/ guideplates, pushrods, and whatever else came with it?

Also, I assume you would get a little (barely) extra power (I.e. :with the longer push rods)?

The longer pushrods and guideplates are to insure that you don't pop a rocker off the top of the valve... Typically this is for 5500 rpm and above applications--

So I take it that rtdkota has used them or is this a sales pitch? I've been curious to see if the 1.7's work as good as I hear.

Wouldn't want any other!

No sales pitch. I run them on my RT, way before I even started selling them. I don't have number specific ratings for a V6, only for my truck which went from 204 rwhp to 230 rwhp (headers were done at the same time-- I wasn't able to get a dyno run with the headers alone, but I could feel a difference once the 1.7s went on). The increases for a V6 should be in the 10-15 rwhp range-- just like a V8. I have many people who run the 1.7s and have noticed good gains. It's not going to be a night or day thing. More like-- you put them on, drive the truck and you might notice a slight difference-- give it a day, drive to work or something (as in the next day-- on your standard routine) and you then notice the increase from 3000 rpm up... You'll appreciate the performance as the pcm settles into the new parameters you've thrown to it. Ask other V6 owners that have done them. See what they have to say.

Where are you located??? If in SoCal... I'd even help you install them. It's easy.

Those went to Andy--- I'm awaiting his install report--
Looking at the amount of work it required to do it-- I'm probably going to go another route-- remove the stock baffles entirely, and weld in new baffles (then powdercoat). I took 30 minutes of machine time to do the modification to Andy's covers, then another 30-45 minutes of deburring.
I can remove the baffles in 10-15 minutes, and weld in the replacement baffles in 10-15 minutes total time.

Either way, they should work fine.

Yeah, I have the headers also. Even a modest gain is good. Where did you get yours? I've called socaldakota and priced around. Been looking for a clearence on truckperformance but I haven't seen one in a while for the 1.7's. Just 1.6's. I live in Palmdale. Just about 45 min north of L.A. How about you?

Nice paint waterpolo. Clear corners would look nice on there too.

If socaldakota was eastcoastdakota, I'd probably have some RR's on mine by now too. :)

Mostly funds and the extended warranty that's sitting on my truck are what's got me waiting. I'd like to do them at some point. Something's ticking in mine now. May be an excuse for new rockers... That or a timing chain, fun, fun.

I have got the covers and they look great! Since I have to do some other work on the truck (replacing the rear differential) right now, rockers and covers will have to wait a little...
As soon as I have them on, I will report on how it all works and provide some pics. Sorry for the delay.

rtdkota -- Yeah the picture was taken at mirimar, but i'm actually stationed up in lancaster, close to where stealwings582 lives, actually our cities are next to each other. I'm looking at getting some 1.7 roller rockers for my truck. San Diego isn't to far of a drive (at least for me).

Thanks about the paint. I'm lucky in that my dad's a car painter, hes been doing it for over 25 years now. We are going to change the flames a little, we're going to extend them out on the doors some more. We're even thinking of doing the flames in Dupont chromalusion. We'll see though.

Anyhow i'll give you a ring and ask you about those roller rockers. I think a while back i saw a post that you can get the valve covers powder coated too?

Miramar is 10-12 minutes from me--- Marine Corp eh??

I do work there, and other bases in SD.
