Message: I was just wondering what kinda gas mileage everyone is getting. Personally mine is horrible, weighing in at just under 5000 lbs, i get roughly 14 MPG in city traffic. I've got dual flows and a drop in K&N.
My truck: 97 CC 4X$(that's why this thing weighs a ton)

Message: several things can cause poor mileage. poor gas,idling,o2,map sensor, driving habits, gear ratio, larger tires.if you got a 4x4 your in the ball park.try plugs, plug wires and maybe it needs a good thumping to blow it out some from all that city driving.

Message: i filled my dak up last night and checked it...i get about 18mpg. i dont think that is that bad, and i keep my foot in it 95% of the time.
how big is the gas tank on my 94 dakota swb? the fuel light comes on and i drove on it for about 20miles...the most gas ive but in it was 13.193 gallons. it had to be bone dry b/c it was sputterin' like a bad habbit when i coasted into the gas station..
my dakota...210,100 miles on it, and wouldnt change it for the world.

Message: You guys get really good gas mileage compared to mine. I have a 93 dakota, 3.9 mag, 4x4, and I get terrible. With the winter we've had, extremely cold, and in town driving, I am happy with 10. This winter I have had as low as 8.5 and I've changed, spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, and airfilter and it got no better. I don't even tromp on it or drive it hard.

Message: White Dakota, Your tank is probably 15 gallons, The dakota comes with the standard 15 gallon tank, or the opinion 22 gallon. I have the 22, I have put 21 gallons of gas and still no gas light!
I get about 18 to 20 around town (it varies, sometimes I feel like really stomping on it!) and about 22 on the highway.

Message: Last summer I was getting over 21 mpg after my mods (avg. speed of 75-80), then slowly lost mileage (down to 15) and performance over the last 6k miles. After a post or two suspected the intake plenum belly pan gasket was leaking, and sure enough it was. Now that's been fixed, and I noticed the performance picked up...but not much improvement in mpg (maybe 1 or 2 mpg). Emissions tested very good, so not showing evidence of burning too much gas...and no service codes or lights. Actually to the point of considering driving the minivan...much better mpg, and comparable acceleration.

Message: I usually get about 20 hiway/15 city in summer (more like 10 or 11mpg city in winter) on my '00 5-spd. It's got a tonneau cover, but I don't hit the expressway enough to tell if that helps mpg.
Here's something odd...I've actually noticed an increase in fuel economy by ignoring that damn upshift indicator light. It "wants" you to lug the engine all the time; like at 40mph, shifting according to the light, you're in 5th gear doing 1100rpm. No matter what gear I'm in, it lights up for an upshift between 1600-1800rpm; that seems unusually low. I pick up 1, maybe 2mpg city when I ignore the light and "shift by feel". Anyone else notice mpg improvement by ingoring the shift light?
