Message: you should be able to swap every thing over. only problem will be to adapt the r/t wiring to you're '94.

Message: I understand that this question has been asked atleast a dozen times in this thread. please bare with me. I just picked up a junked 96 dak with 100k miles on the 5.2l in it. Everything on it works fine, and after replacing a tie-rod end it's now drivable. I also have a 97 dak (first model year for the genII) with 230k miles on the 3.9l. I am planning on swapping the 5.2l into the 97. I know that everything should bolt up, but I am wondering about the wiring. after comparing the computer to a similar truck, it looks as though the computer may be an aftermarket one. will this be a problem with the options? the 97 has power locks and windows, the 96 does not. I'm also wondering how to get the odometers to to carry the mileage over. the 96 has a roll over odometer, the 97 went to digital. any help is appreciated. thanks.

Message: Since you have 2 trucks, it might be a little easier than if you only had one and the engine. As for the speedodometer, and the rest of the dash, I think if you use the computer, and wiring from the 96, I'm guessing that the dash gauges probably wouldn't work. As you stated, the 97 has all of the power stuff, and I think they are controled by the computer, but I'm not sure about that.
I am sure it can be done, and work, you may have to use a newer computer to make everything work correctly, so you might be able to get a salvage yard to exchange your 96 for a 97, that should do the trick I would think.
Good Luck

Message: My father is wanting to drop a v8 into our 2002 Dodge Dakota. It has the stock 3.9L V6.
Which would be better (from a time/money to results ratio), a Dakota V8 from around the same year? Or possibly a small block V8? Preferably Mopar.
With either of these installs, what else needs to be modified, bought, etc to ensure a good, functional install? Thanks again.

Message: http://www.engine-swaps.com/ seems to be where lots of you will learn some of what you need and what parts will be needed.
Check out the oil pan. Check out tranny mount, I modified my mount with slots and drilled holes in frame for new postion.I am making my own motor mounts that will just go from the 318 straight to the frame rails.
Electric fan in front of rad. Had to grind lots out of the inside of grill and modified strap.
I have a 1988. Newer will need extra work (puter and other electric)
