Subject: Please HELP!!! IP: Logged
Message: i've got a '98 3.9 5 speed and within the past couple of weeks i've upgraded to the FMS 19# injectors and upgraded my wires to JBA, i've had the autolite plugs for bout a year now...my problem is that my truck is running like crap...when i really give it some gas it hesitates then seems to have a real bad stumble (like it's missing) every couple of days my check engine light comes on which results in a cylinder 1 misfire (according to autozone)...also when i get out of the truck i can really smell the gas...could these probs be a result of burning rich??? if so, then i'm hoping that my msd that i will finally be hooking up on sunday, will correct this problem...any other ideas???????
thanks,
brian

Message: i've tried all of the above...i unplugged my jet module today just to see if that was contributing to me running rich...the problem isn't as bad now, i'm thinking that it's a bad injector...slopehead, you didn't help at all

Message: Increasing your injectors and all that fun stuff is cool, but did you increase your air intake, try running a cold air intake or just a k&n more air will definately help the problem

Message: It's probably the #1 wire. I had the same thing happen to me with #5 wire. I am planning on calling JBA.
Change your wires back for now and erase the trouble code with a scanner.

Message: update,
after installing my msd, i still had the hesitation...so today i put my stock plugs back in and now the damn thing runs great...it blew my mind when i found out that it was the injectors that were causing the probs...i've never seen anything like that before, my dumb luck i guess...the good news is that my buddy gave me 8 more FMS injectors to try that came out of a '90 mustang (has the metal housing instead of the plastic housing), hopefully there aren't any bad injectors in there that will throw me off again...and by the way, i'm getting this whole "changing injectors" thing down to a science, gets quicker each time :)
thanks for all of the help,
brian

Message: Yuo need to find a V8 or aftermarket throttle body. This will really change the performance on your V6.
