Subject: 88 runnin too cold IP: Logged
Message: I have a 88 dakota 3.9L 4x4 its got edlebrock headers,K&N filter, bosch platnium 4+ plugs, copper rotor and cap,no pollution pump.It still has the stock cat I still have to rip it off because I heard you get alot more power. My question is the engine light comes on and says it runs too cold I was wondering why it would run so cold.

Message: How do you know its running too cold?
My check engine light has been on for about two years now, and its on just to remind me to have my emissions equipment checked. I wont because I cut my cat off and got an extra mpg.

Message: Theres the possibility that you t-stat is stuck open or something causing it to run cold. What does your temp gauge read when your driving? Chances are its running fine you just have a sensor thats going bad making the computer think your running cold.
BTW you won't gain much power by taking off the cat.

Message: The computer times your warm up from a cold
start. If it doesn't reach operating temp in the
time it wants it sets the code. Nine times out
of ten it's the thermostat stuck slightly open or
just pulling open too much too soon.
